TJO and C&D History

Rising Up Angry

I want to write to you about a time when TJO combined with another element called C&D which stood for Clark and Devon. Having read some of your gang info I noticed being jumped in and wearing Baggies. We never did , we had are own style. A Black leather jacket 3/4 length Cabreta, leather we called it a Lizard as a nickname. It was worn with pants H.I.S. Slacks with side slit pockets and Beatle Boots. Up top was a Italian Knit shirt. In the summer we changed and worn Levi s, black combat boots and t shirt. Some of us in 1967 started growing our hair long and in other neighborhoods others did too. We began hanging with each other as common interests were LSD and Pot. We went to the Aragon Ball Room and The Electric Theatre. This made it possible for us to go to TJO with no problems and Turf, and Blacktop which was Sullivan High also we got together with Margate Park guys. All because we were Hippie/ Greasers. We were not bothered because each of those areas we were friends with what we called The Heads people who got high. This allowed me to view and see all things that happened from 1967 to 1971 . You have mentioned how Joe Ganci, shot and killed a Latin Eagle and blew the arm off of another what was not told was those guys had been warned not to come to our territory ever again. They ignored this warning and insulted and slapped around a girl from the neighborhood. Ganci, left the R Lounge on the corner of Ashland and Devon and found those two and did the deed. The R Lounge was a rough place. I worked there and kept a 38 with me at all times. I had served in the Infantry in the jungle for 18 months and knew how to kill as well as a lot of us did. I can not mention those we wasted but if it had to be done , it was. As you mentioned TJO was a rouge f_king group of killers. We did reign supreme for our time. Now the hood has went to shit, we protected it until some got married with kids, some went to Prison and others OD’ed and died. Those were the days of C&D.

I am a proud veteran of the U.S. Army Infantry Jungle Expert, but more important am more proud of my membership with C&D/ TJO. We were no doubt the baddest on the block ! No fear, always ready and do whatever was needed no questions asked.

Clark and Devon

TJO wanted us to join in with them and we said no problem as some guys were in both already. This added about another 35 members to TJO. The most important thing was to keep Blacks and Spanish gangs out of our area. That meant do anything. Beat them with baseball bats, shoot them, stab them. The hate was Pure, no questions asked. The additive for the hate was no f-king way are you going to f-ck my friends sisters . No slumming as we called it was allowed.

A list of some events

TJO first as it is main organization and C&D secound because we joined them.

Turf and TJO would fight in the alleys.

This dude B was shot 3 times.

Drug dealers from outside the hood were shot and ripped off.

Heroin, killed friends.

A shooting gallery was across the street from the R Lounge in a basemen.

Dice games would last all night.

Guns were everywhere.

Everybody had court dates and various felonies.

Other things I can not tell you about.

We had a building up by Howard and the lake. One of the guys Charlie O nickname ran the the building for the owner. We partied hard their. Gellis, some TJO but mostly Senn guys with some C&D.

If you were cool no one f-ked with you. The apartment underneath us we broke into because the rent was not paid. This will be in caps dude. IT WAS A SDS WEATHERMEN BOMB FACTORY. BERNADETTE DORN TYPE SHIT. SHORT WAVE RADIOS PROPAGANDA LIT. WE WERE LIVING ABOVE A BOMB FACTORY WHEW.

Some of the older neighborhood guys back from Nam joined the police force we connected them and they came gave us $500 reward and we had to stay away until the bomb unit cleared it.

TJO never jumped us in that would have been and insult we would not allow but we were very like minded criminals. We never robbed old ladies, only crimes like getting a what was called a six pin and go down to lake shore drive and rob all the laundry machines in the High Rises. It was good money! Also I had a brother who was very good at disarming alarms so go and rob late at night.

The best robberies are the ones you never hear about !
